From acclaimed producer and director Frank Rajah Arase comes his latest offering, Refugees, a movie about racism and the potential perils of an immigrant in America.
Three friends break free from the chains of poverty in the slums of Accra, making it to America to pursue their gifts of music. But in America they discover that all that glitters isn’t gold, and sometimes the dream becomes a nightmare.
The movie stars Yvonne Nelson, Belinda Effah, Okawa Shaznay, David Chin, Ross Fleming, Diana Yekinni, Sahndra Fon Dufe, Anastasia Pekhtereva and Sira Bah.
Frank Rajah used to work with Abdul Salam Mumuni, CEO of Venus Films. His directorial credits include Iyore, Beyonce, Mummy’s Daughter, Official Prostitute, and other thought-provoking films. Though the trailer for Refugees makes it appear heavy on drama and light on realism, the production quality looks a little better than the typical fare our Ghanaian film industry puts out.
