Two emerging Nigerian fashion houses, MORAFA (menswear) and Fruché (womenswear), joined forces for a new collection — Caught in Motion — coordinated looks for men and women. In the designers’ words:
“The collection is inspired by love, bright colours,and the freshness of morning light. It is a celebration of minimalist feminity and masculinity. The pieces were combined to create a wardrobe for individuals with a strong unwavering sense of self.”
For the menswear, MORAFA employed locally sourced aso-oke fabric. Sheer and lace dominate Fruché’s womenswear.
Oluwaseun Morafa, creative director of the MORAFA label, is an undergraduate student of the University of Lagos who emerged as the 2nd runner up at the 2015 edition of Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week.
Frank Aghuno, creative director of Fruché, debuted two years ago with a collection inspired by the X-Men character Rogue.
Caught in Motion could very well sum up what this collection symbolizes in the development of the design houses, which are both on an upward trajectory.
