“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11
We angered Satan when we dedicated our lives to serving God. Because of that, he’ll do anything to break up our relationship with God and claim our souls for himself.
We must remain vigilant at all times to his attacks, because Satan is crafty. He doesn’t necessarily come at us directly as we expect him to. Instead, he tempts and tricks us into thinking we’re doing good when in fact we’re doing evil in God’s eyes.
Against such a formidable adversary, who among us could possibly win? That’s why we have the Lord to support us and the Holy Spirit and the word of God to guide us.
When Satan tempted Jesus three times in the desert, Jesus called upon the word of God to defend himself against the attacks. What’s good for Jesus is good for us. We must study the bible so when temptation comes, whether it be a full on frontal assault or one of the devil’s patented trickeries, we can be confident in the right path.
In addition to knowledge of the bible, we must pray. The Lord speaks to those who open their ears to hear. When in doubt, we have only to ask God. He will direct us, and He will give us the strength we need to withstand temptation — so long as we remain serious about wanting to withstand it, so long as we wake up each and every day and put on the armor of God.
