Nigerian Designer Ayo Van Elmar Draws Inspiration From Dead Fish For 2016 Spring/Summer Collection ‘Fishbone’

Nigerian fashion label Ayo Van Elmar released its Spring/Summer collection called Fishbone, inspired by a “late lunch that had the most interesting constructions the creative director had ever seen in a meal.”

The fashion designer was particularly fascinated by the diameter of the fishbone, implying strength and intensity in its structure.

That inspiration can be seen in the frill hemlines, scaly prints, iridescent fabrics and the overall construction, which makes use of vibrant prints, added volumes, lace and sheer designs.

The pieces are said to be the best collection yet from Ayo Van Elmar.
